For water treatment systems whose source and composition are well known, their performance can be accurately predicted using computer design software. However, in some cases, it is recommended to conduct trials to obtain a suitable system design. These trials include:
- Unable to ascertain the quality of the influent water, and specific requirements for the quality of the produced water;
- Unable to ascertain fluctuations in the influent water quality;
- Extremely high system recovery rate (>80%);
- Special or new application areas, such as new processes or wastewater treatment;
- Large systems: greater than 500m³/h (3.5mgd);
