How Nanofiltration Membranes Work
Nanofiltration (NF) is a pressure-driven membrane separation technology positioned between ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO). It selectively removes multivalent ions, organic compounds, color, and larger dissolved molecules while allowing a portion of monovalent salts to pass through. This unique separation mechanism makes nanofiltration an ideal solution for water softening, resource recovery, and industrial process water treatment.

Feed Water Enters the Membrane
Feed water containing dissolved salts, hardness ions, organic matter, and suspended impurities is delivered to the nanofiltration membrane under moderate operating pressure.
Selective Molecular Separation
The membrane selectively retains multivalent ions, larger organic molecules, color compounds, and dissolved contaminants while allowing water molecules and part of the monovalent salts to pass through.
Permeate and Concentrate Formation
Purified water (permeate) is collected for reuse or further treatment, while concentrated contaminants are discharged through the concentrate stream.
