1. Loading and unloading preparation
First, a schematic diagram should be designed to indicate the installation positions of the pressure vessels and membrane elements, so as to determine the relative positions of each pressure vessel and membrane element. It is recommended that the following items be prepared before installing or removing components: safety rubber boots, rubber gloves, safety glasses, an Allen wrench (6mm), hose wrenches, scissors, pliers, glycerin (do not use detergent, petroleum jelly, etc.) , a membrane puller, an adjustable wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and a clean cloth.
(1) Remove all dust, grease, metal , plastic debris, etc. from the upstream water inlet pipe. Rinse the pressure vessel with clean water to remove dust and sediment. Then make a clean mop large enough to fill the inner diameter of the pressure vessel. Soak the mop in a solution of 50% glycerin and water and drag it back and forth inside the pressure vessel several times until the inner wall of the pressure vessel is clean and lubricated.
(2) Before the installation of the element, qualified water from the pretreatment system should be allowed to flow through the membrane pressure shell for a period of time. At the same time, the quality of the incoming water should be checked to see if it meets the requirements of the membrane element inlet water specifications, and the pipeline should be checked for leaks or contamination.
(3) Rinse the pressure vessel with clean water to remove dust and deposits; then wipe the inner wall of the pressure vessel with a lubricant such as glycerin.
(4) Before installing the components, ensure that all parts and reagents of the installation and commissioning system are complete and that the pretreatment system is operating normally. Otherwise, do not open the membrane element packaging.
2. Mounting Components
(1) Carefully remove the first membrane element from the packaging box, record the membrane element number, check whether the position and direction of the Y-ring (salt water sealing ring) on the element are correct (the opening of the Y-ring must face the water inlet direction), and apply a small amount of glycerin to the inner wall of the central tube at both ends of the first membrane.

(2) The membrane element must be installed from the water inlet end of the pressure vessel. Push the end of the first membrane element without the Y-ring parallel into the pressure vessel until the membrane element protrudes about 1/5 of its length (10-20cm) outside the pressure vessel. Apply a small amount of glycerin to the Y-ring and the ‘O’ ring on the connector. Insert the connector into the center tube of the first membrane element.
(3) Take out the second membrane element, check the position and direction of the Y ring, apply a small amount of glycerin to the inner wall of the central tube at both ends of the second membrane element, fix the first membrane element to prevent it from being pushed into the pressure vessel, lift the second membrane element parallel, and let the other end of the connector in the central tube of the first membrane element be inserted into the central tube of the second membrane element. At this time, it should be kept parallel and the connector should not bear the weight of the membrane element. Push the second membrane element into the pressure vessel until it protrudes about 1/5 of its length (10-20cm) outside the pressure vessel. Apply a small amount of glycerin to the Y ring and the ‘O’ ring on the connector, and insert the connector into the central tube of the second membrane element.
(4) Repeat the previous step until all membrane elements are installed in the pressure vessel. Note that the last membrane element (that is, the first and last membrane elements installed) does not need to be inserted into the central tube connector.

(5) Move to the outlet (concentrate) end of the pressure vessel . Do not forget to install the thrust ring (failure to install the thrust ring will cause serious damage to the membrane element). Install the end plate sealing assembly of the outlet (concentrate) end of the pressure vessel (an adapter is required, commonly known as a “grenade”).
(6) Transfer to the inlet end of the pressure vessel, push the membrane element completely into the pressure vessel, make the end plate sealing assembly of the outlet end (concentrate end) in close contact with the first membrane element, and then install the end plate sealing assembly of the inlet end of the pressure vessel.
(7) Repeat the above steps to install other pressure vessels;
(8) After all the internal membrane elements of the pressure vessel are installed, install the external inlet water, concentrate water and pure water pipelines.

3. Disassembling components
When removing membrane elements from the system pressure vessel, the following procedure should be followed:
(1) First, remove the external pipelines at both ends of the pressure vessel, disassemble the pressure vessel end plate according to the specifications, record the numbers of the disassembled parts and place them in order.
(2) Membrane elements must be pushed out sequentially from the inlet end of the pressure vessel, one element at a time. Avoid using hard tools. When an element is pushed out of the pressure vessel, it should be caught in time and the membrane element should be kept horizontal to prevent damage to the central tube connector caused by gravity. Rotate the membrane element to separate it from the central tube connector .
(3) After the membrane element is removed and cleaned, it should be stored in a dark room at 8-35℃ and soaked in a 1% sodium bisulfite solution to prevent the membrane from being oxidized.
